Norway and the Faroe Islands have entered into a new herring agreement

Norway and the Faroe Islands have entered into a new agreement on the size of the national quotas for Norwegian spring-spawning herring.

The Norwegian quota for 2025 for NVG herring (Norwegian spring-spawning herring) will now be 257,871 tonnes .

The agreement gives Norway a coastal state share of 64.18 percent and the Faroe Islands a share of 10 percent. Over the past two years, Norway has reduced its unilateral share from 76 percent, while the Faroe Islands have reduced theirs from 22 percent.
