Bus company Flixbus reduces Finnish routes

Flixbus’ last departures from Tampere and Joensuu are on Monday, January 6th, before a break of about a month, reports YLE.

After that, the trips will resume at the end of January, with the route being operated three times a week.

The company has not given a reason for the shift changes.

At the same time, direct express connections between Joensuu and Helsinki will decrease. In addition to Flixbus, Onnibus, which previously operated the route, stopped its own services between the cities in August 2024.

The most likely reason for the reduction in service is the low number of passengers, YLE adds. For example, eight tickets had been sold for the bus departing from Joensuu on Epiphany by Friday afternoon, while the bus has 69 seats.
