NORDIC WAVE – Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized unity between Denmark and Greenland to counter growing U.S. pressure, during her three-day visit to Greenland.
Frederiksen urged solidarity, calling it the strongest response to U.S. Vice President JD Vance’s remarks about Greenland’s strategic importance and potential financial incentives for Greenlanders.
“You cannot annex other countries — not even under the pretext of international security,” Frederiksen said at a press conference in Nuuk.
Greenland, part of the Kingdom of Denmark since 1953, has autonomy in many areas, though Denmark oversees defense and foreign policy.
