NORDIC WAVE – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pledged to defend the European Union’s interests against tariffs imposed by President Trump, warning of corresponding countermeasures.
In a phone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, von der Leyen expressed deep concern over the tariffs, which she said harm all nations, including the world’s poorest. She reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to engage in negotiations with the United States.
Von der Leyen emphasized the need for collaboration with the EU’s partners to address the “new reality in the global economy,” while acknowledging that each trading partner will prioritize its own interests.
