Norway: Tenfold increase in car imports from China

22.8 percent of cars imported to Norway come from China, according to Statistics Norway’s foreign trade figures, which were published on Wednesday.

In comparison, the share in 2019 was only 2.1 percent. The share of imported cars from China has thus increased tenfold in five years.

China is taking shares of the car market in Norway, both with its own Chinese brands, such as MG, BYD and Xpeng, and by Western car manufacturers having established production in China, such as Tesla, Volvo and BMW.
